Mason Foreign Language Placement
Students pursuing any BA degree at George Mason University must achieve intermediate-level proficiency in one foreign language by completing the basic language sequence of 110-201-202 or 101-102-201-202. The basic language sequence for Spanish is different from the other languages, so please get advising.
Do you have some knowledge of your target language and yet you are not sure how much you know? Then placements tests are for you. These tests can diagnose whether you should begin at the start of one of our 12-credit language sequences or whether you can begin in one of our more advanced 200-level classes.
Online Placement Tests
Online placement tests are available in most languages. If your language is not listed below, please contact our lab at language@gmu.edu.
