Did you have a favorite class or professor?

I had the pleasure of taking a course with Dr. Richards called “Women Preachers, Teachers, Activists and Captives during the Enslavement Era.” Dr. Richards brought complexity, humanity, and passion to the study of history in a way I had never experienced, and I am a more inquisitive and curious student because of her teaching.

What is your most memorable moment at Mason?

Both of my parents are Mason alumni. A few years ago, they visited me on campus, and I remember feeling very proud to attend a school that has changed my life (for the better) in so many ways.

What is your next step? What are your future plans?

I am pursuing a graduate degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at the Carter School. I suppose I wasn’t ready to leave Mason just yet!

As you are reflecting on your time at Mason, what is one piece of advice you would give a student who is just starting off on their Mason journey?

Never stop asking (informed) questions! I imagine that my undergraduate advisors are somewhat relieved to have me out of their hair, but if I could name one regret, it would be that my fear of looking incompetent likely kept me from learning everything I could. Asking questions is a way of advocating for yourself, and that is never embarrassing.
