Russian: Russian Language and Linguistics
Elena Guglielmi is a native speaker of Russian and has been teaching at George Mason University for over 17 years, working with students at all levels of Russian language instruction. She holds advanced degrees from Rostov-on-Don Pedagogical University and the International Institute at George Mason University, and has also studied at Georgetown University.
Her academic background spans Russian, English, and Spanish, as well as Russian literature, philosophy, economics, religion, and linguistics. She further pursued Spanish studies at the University of Havana in Cuba and studied religion and philosophy in Florence, Italy.
Before focusing fully on teaching, Professor Guglielmi worked in professional language services, where she led and managed complex Russian-language projects, oversaw editorial work, and collaborated on high-level international initiatives requiring advanced linguistic precision and cross-cultural expertise.
She has traveled to over 70 countries and has a strong interest in archaeology and history. Outside the classroom, she enjoys staying active through fitness and yoga and is also a classically trained concert pianist.
