Spanish at George Mason
Become Part of a Global and Local Community
The Spanish language and Spanish-speaking peoples are a vital part of our local and global communities and exert a growing influence worldwide. Mason Spanish students study the Spanish language in the context of these communities, learning about Latin American, Latino and Spanish language practices, literatures, histories, and cultures.
As Mason Spanish students learn about these communities, they become part of them. They participate in a large local community of Spanish speakers at the university and in Northern Virginia. They enjoy many opportunities to get to know speakers of Spanish through classes, student organizations, and community activism, and Spanish language arts programs in the area.
Faculty in the Spanish program are internationally renowned and will guide your exploration of the language of over 400 million people in twenty Spanish-speaking countries, including the United States.
