Korean at George Mason

Unique Opportunities.

There is perhaps no better place to study Korean than at George Mason University. Relatively few universities have undergraduate majors in Korea. Of these, fewer still are located in the heart of a vibrant Korean American community. And Mason is the only university in the country that can boast not only of these two features, but also an international branch campus in Korea, where you can seamlessly take Mason classes, sharpen your Korean by living in Korea, and enjoy Korean culture.

Korean studies at Mason works at the newest frontiers of the subject and includes interdisciplinary approaches including film and media studies, cultural studies, literature, linguistics, translation studies, and international studies. It includes as well ample opportunities for opportunities for experiential and integrative learning through film projects, conference presentations, language exchange or study abroad programs, and internships at the Mason Korea campus.

In the major or minor you will gain a strong foundation in the Korean language as well as Korean culture in fields such as international relations, transnational corporations, education, translation and interpretation, federal and local governments, and other global cultural industries.
