The Department of Modern and Classical Languages welcomes Danielle Callegari, Associate Professor of French and Italian at Dartmouth College and co-host of the Gola food and wine podcast. Drawing on her book A Bite-Sized History of Italy, Professor Callegari will trace how centuries of Italian cooking, from the kitchens of ancient Rome to today's debates over pasta and protected products, have shaped the identity of a nation still defining itself at the table.
A reception will follow the talk. The event is held in conjunction with ITAL 420: Global and Local Italy and is co-sponsored by the Costello College of Business. Free and open to the public. Questions may be directed to Kristina Olson at kolson4@gmu.edu.
