The Arabic program at George Mason University will host a discussion with Al-Jazeera.net Washington chief correspondent Mohamed Elmenshaway on November 5 @1:30.
Prior to writing for Al-Jazeera, Elmenshawy was the DC bureau chief for Al-Araby TV and was a resident fellow at The Middle East Institute. In August 2009, he was selected to join the U.N. Secretary General’s High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations initiative, as part of its Rapid Response Media Mechanism. He is a regular commentator on international politics in major international and Arabic television and radio networks. Recent appearances include Al-Jazeera TV, CNN International, and C-SPAN. His writing regularly appears in the Huffington Post, the Christian Science Monitor, Foreign Policy, and other outlets. He also writes a regular column for the major Egyptian daily Al Shorouk.
Mr. Elmenshawy will speak with students in Dr. Nathaniel Greenberg’s advanced Arabic media seminar: Debates & Context (351/355). The talk will be in Arabic and English and is open to public.
