Explores major issues controversial in language pedagogy. Topics include communicative competence as pedagogical goal, role of explicit grammar teaching, proficiency movement, cultural authenticity, student-centered learning, and technology. May not be repeated for credit.
Recommended Prerequisite: Graduate standing or permission of department, language teaching methods course, and language teaching experience.
Registration Restrictions:

Enrollment limited to students with a class of Advanced to Candidacy, Graduate, Junior Plus, Non-Degree or Senior Plus.

Enrollment is limited to Graduate, Non-Degree or Undergraduate level students.

Students in a Non-Degree Undergraduate degree may not enroll.
