Dr. Román-Mendoza, a Seasoned Study Abroad Academic Director, Leads a Remarkable Tour to Quito, Ecuador.

This past winter break, a group of twenty Mason students, led by Professor Esperanza Román-Mendoza, embarked on the study abroad tour to beautiful Quito, Ecuador, one of the most culturally fascinating cities in the world! Quito, the capital of Ecuador, was founded in the 16th century on Incan city ruins. It is among the best-preserved historic centers in Latin America. The rich culture and history combined with rainforests, volcanoes, the Galapagos Archipelago, and the year-round spring-like climate made Quito the perfect city in which to spend two weeks studying Spanish. Intensive studying at the Universidad San Francisco aside, there were plenty of other opportunities to exercise Spanish: there were numerous trips and museum visits, some of which were captured here by student participant Owin Pierson.
