A Year of Growth: Celebrating Our Faculty

The Department of Modern and Classical Languages closes Spring 2026 on a high note. The department has continued to grow in both scholarly ambition and collegial spirit. This year brought a remarkable number of well-deserved recognitions, reflecting the dedication and excellence of our faculty across teaching, research, and service.

We are proud to celebrate the following appointments and achievements:

Saima Ashraf-Hassan was promoted to Master Instructor. Carrie Bonilla was promoted to Term Professor. Jianfei Chen was renewed to a five-year contract as Term Associate Professor. Sayed Elsisi was promoted to Term Associate Professor. Nate Greenberg was promoted to Professor. Elena Guglielmi was promoted to Master Instructor. Naglaa Hussein was promoted to Term Professor. Young A Jung was tenured and promoted to Associate Professor. Hyun Seon Park successfully passed her Third-Year Review on the tenure line. Peiyu Yang was promoted to Term Associate Professor.

We thank all of our faculty and staff for their hard work and dedication throughout the semester. It has been a wonderful spring, and we look forward to what the next semester will bring.
