Jung’s paper examines the complex, multidimensional fan engagement and activism, focusing on the recent conflicting incidents that K-pop artists have performed regarding using Islamic elements to maximize commercial success. Based on online ethnography analyzing music videos and discourses, observing fans’ responses on various online platforms, and a focus group conversation, this study explores the possibility of fan activism and the transformation of fan identities.
