Virtual conversation with Dr. Hutchins

Dr. William Hutchins is the world's most renowned translator of modern Arabic literature with over 40 book-length translations and scores of short-stories, essays and critical works. He has translated many of the giants of Arabic literature including Tawfiq al-Hakim, Naguib Mahfouz and Ibrahim al-Koni as well as dozens of lesser-known voices from across the Arabic-speaking world. He is the recipient of the 2013 Saif Ghobash Banipal Prize for Translation from Arabic, the National Translation Award for Prose from the American Literary Translators Association (2015), and many other distinguished awards. The Arabic program at GMU will be hosting a virtual conversation with Dr. Hutchins on December 6, at Merten Hall 1201.
