Spanish Linguistics for Educators es un curso graduado cuyo objetivo es el estudio de la lingüística del español desde la perspectiva de su aplicación en el aula de español en los Estados Unidos, atendiendo a las características específicas de los hablantes de herencia y las clases mixtas. Aunque no se trata de un curso para mejorar las destrezas lingüísticas en español, el estudio de los temas del curso y la realización de los ejercicios y proyectos de esta clase sirven de apoyo en este sentido para todo el alumnado. El curso aborda cuestiones teóricas y prácticas, y está orientado tanto para el profesorado de español en ejercicio como para quienes están considerando dedicarse a la docencia en el futuro.

Explores the linguistic dimensions of Spanish in order to understand the pedagogical needs of heritage and second language learners. Covers the key areas of linguistics: phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and pragmatics with an emphasis on sociolinguistic variation. Includes analysis of learner speech, discussion of learner challenges, and the application of key concepts to language learning and teaching. May not be repeated for credit.
Registration Restrictions:

Enrollment limited to students with a class of Advanced to Candidacy, Graduate, Junior Plus, Non-Degree or Senior Plus.

Students in a Non-Degree Undergraduate degree may not enroll.
