Born in Yemen, Abdulrazzak S. Aldhobhani, holds master's degree and a certificate “Superior” in Oral & Written Arabic –American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).  Arabic is his mother tongue, which he studied from an early age until he obtained a BS degree in Accounting from Sana'a University in Yemen.  Mr. Aldhobhani is familiar with DLPT, OPI and other government administered tests, has knowledge of the ILR and ACTFL.  He is expert in the Yemeni dialects as well.  He taught  classical Arabic and Yemeni dialects to non-native speakers at university level in many universities and institutions in the metropolitan area such as: The American University in Washington, D.C., Graduate School-USA and Middle East Institute (MEI).  He also taught Arabic at ACE in Fairfax County, Virginia Tech. in Falls Church branch.  Additionally, he worked for the National Foreign Language Center (NFLC) - University of Maryland, College Park.  Moreover, Aldhobhani worked for several years as a contractor teaching Arabic-MSA and Yemeni dialects at L-3 Communications, FSI-State Department in Arlington, Virginia, and several private schools, companies in the area.  In 2009, Professor Aldhobhani joined George Mason University, Fairfax campus as an Adjunct Professor of ARABIC-MSA and is still on top of his work until now.  He has taught ARAB-110/201/202/250.  Currently he is teaching ARAB-110, ARAB-201, and ARAB-202.  His instructional and informational expertise has been recognized on the local and state levels.  In 2014 and 2015 he received the following certificates of appreciations from the FSI:

Appreciation Certificate for exemplary work in developing the Arabic ALERT-based security module in the Yemeni dialect, spring 2014. Foreign Service Institute (FSI) Annual Awards Ceremony – 2014.  FSI - State Department, Arlington, Virginia.

Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of collaborative efforts to develop, present, and instruct the Arabic section students in cultural awareness via extra-curricular events.  These emphasized regional customs, traditions, and dialects.  As a result have better understanding of their local environment at post.  Mr. Aldhobhani held many positions in the USA such as an accountant, public relations officer, academic advisor, assistant bank manager.  He is a member of Graduate School - USA’s Faculty Advisory Council, Washington, D.C. (04/2013 – present).   He also loves traveling, reading and teaching.

  • Translated/Transliteration of DLI Survival Kit project from English/to Yemeni language and recording.
  • Tested individuals in person/over the phone (Speaking, reading and writing) of Yemeni dialects.

  • Design and implement tests/quizzes and evaluate student performance.
