El Salvador Today: 20 Years After the Peace

In February 2012, the Latin American Studies Program at George Mason University organized the event series EL SALVADOR TODAY: 20 YEARS AFTER THE PEACE. 20 years ago, the government of El Salvador signed a peace agreement with leftist rebels, bringing an end to a 12-year civil war that resulted in the loss of over 70,000 lives. The event series commemorated the Peace Accords and reflected on the challenges facing El Salvador today.

Berroa to Discuss Work of Poet Elytis at Library of Congress

Pedro Serrano, a Mexican poet, and Rei Berroa, a professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at George Mason University, will host a discussion covering the Nobel Prize-winning Greek poet Odysseas Elytis, who passed away in 1996. The discussion takes place at the Library of Congress.
