Berroa Reading his Poetry at the The United Nations SRC Society of Writers

Through resolutions of the General Assembly, the United Nations has designated two special days to encourage worldwide peace and happiness. The International Day of Peace, which is observed around the world September 21, was established in 1981 to coincide with the annual opening of the UN General Assembly. The International Day of Happiness has been celebrated on March 20 each year since 2012. The United Nations’ publication March 20 of Happiness: The Delight-Tree, An Anthology of Contemporary International Poetry, which included Rei’s bilingual poem “Utilidades de la risa / The Usefulness of Laughter” coincided with that celebration. With another seven poets from different parts of the world, Rei Berroa will be participating September 21 (New York, 7:00 pm) in a reading at the United Nations to commemorate the International Day of Peace (September 21) and the International Day of Happiness (March 20).
